Eddie Cannon

Eddie Cannon, longtime Ponca City resident, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Shawn Manor Nursing Home. She was 84.

The family will greet friends at Trout Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held to celebrate her life on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Howard, Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will be in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m. Wednesday. The family will greet friends at Rollar Swift Funeral Home in Osceola, Ark., at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Eddie Jean Shelden, the daughter of Eddie and Etta Eatmon Shelden was born Nov. 26, 1925, in Osceola, Ark. She grew up in Arkansas where she received her education.

On Jan. 22, 1943, Eddie married Charles Cannon in Manila, Ark. The couple moved to Ponca City in January of 1969 when Charlie Cannon purchased Bill Moore Chevrolet. Eddie worked for her husband's business, Charlie Cannon Chevrolet for 20 years. They were blessed with one son, Charles C. "Sonny" Cannon Jr., and one daughter, Connie Cannon-Reed. Eddie loved spending time with her family and she had many fond memories of hunting, fishing and boating on the lake with her husband Charlie Cannon. She enjoyed latch work, cross stitch and crafts. She also enjoyed making candy wreaths for her family during the holiday time.

Eddie had been a member of the Methodist Church since 1941. She is greatly loved and will be missed in the lives of many.

She is survived by her husband Charlie of the home; daughter, Connie Jean Cannon-Reed and her husband Gary of Austin, Texas; brother, Jimmy Shelden and his wife Dorothy Ann of Conway, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Eddie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Charles C. "Sonny" Cannon Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Willett and Edna Mae Hooker; and one brother Billy Shelden.

 

 

TERRI DAWN WHITE



The funeral for Terri Dawn White, 35, of Woodward, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Free Will Baptist Church, Woodward. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home.

She was born March 7, 1972, in Okeene to Ronald Laverne and Linda Mae Snow Kirk and died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, in Oklahoma City.

She attended school at Hitchcock and Okeene, graduating in 1990 from Okeene High School. She attended school at Southwestern for a period of time. She married Kenny White May 18, 1991, in Hitchcock. They made their home southeast of Woodward. She worked as a pre-kindergarten paraprofessional at Westwood in the Woodward school system and at Cake Lady Shop.

Surviving are her husband Kenny; two daughters, Caitlin and Kelsie, of the home; her parents, Ron and Linda Kirk; one brother, Brad Kirk; and her grandmother, Mildred Snow.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the educational fund for Caitlin and Kelsie.

 Layton, Leo L., age 57, Retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt., Boeing Quality Assurance Manager, died Monday, July 5, 2004. Visitation, Wednesday, 1pm-8pm at Webb-Shinkle Mortuary Chapel. Services, Thursday, 10 am at Clearwater United Methodist Church. He touched many lives and was loved by all. If you didn't love him, you didn't know him. He loved life and spending it with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: his father, Emil Layton; sister, Sue Mootz.
